A good turn out from our athletes here. The conditions made it tough with a very strong head wind on the home straight and got really cold towards the end of the night with our 800m runners not running until 21.45. The strongest I saw in one of the races -2.4 which makes things very difficult.
Personal best’s on the night came from Izzy Kitson (100m), Jamie Littlewood (100m, 200m), Harry Roffey (800m).
There were some great efforts from Esther, Adam, Jimmy, Teoni, Savana, Lily, Josh and George who all came pretty close to their personal best times/distances.
It was great to see Cyane competing again after a long lay of with the stress fracture and first 800m in 6 months. Leading from the start Cyane set of very cautiously and picked up the pace as the race went on and won the race fairly comfortably. Although we wanted a little quicker there is a lot of positives to take from this. A few more races will see Cyane challenge her personal best as her training suggest.
Performance of the night goes to Ella Kynoch in the Under 13 Girls Discus. It has been frustrating as we see week in week out in training just how far Ella can throw but hasn’t come together in competitions. After tonight’s throw this ranks Ella 2nd in the North of England and 13th in the UK rankings and this is from only half a turn. A hard winter working on that full turn could see Ella come close to that English Schools qualifying distance bottom end Junior Girl.
Well done everyone
