A great turn out here and a great day for competing with 26 of our athletes making the trip. The stiff head wind made it difficult for the sprinters but still saw some great performances. There were lots of personal best and Team Russell records throughout the day.

Team Russell Records :

Will Platts Under 11 Boys 600m for me was the performance of the day with a big personal best by 4 seconds. He then went on to set a personal best in the 150m and go 2nd on the Team Russell rankings. George Connelly came very close to the performance of the day with three outstanding results. A new Team Russell record in both the 80m and Long Jump and coming very close to beating his own record in the 150m. I am sure without the strong head wind George would have done this comfortably.Β  Neve Connelly following in the footsteps of her brother was very impressive in both the Long Jump and 80m where she set a new Team Russell record and made the final competing 2 years below age. Matthew Rhodes has been working really hard and was rewarded with a new personal best in the High Jump which beat his own Team Russell record. Matthew also came very close to the next height which would have been a 10cm improvement. Ella Kynoch again who is working really hard on technique at the moment broke her own Team Russell Under 15 Girls Discus record and came very close to her Shot record too.

Personal Best :

Fletch Wild (Under 11 Boys) set two personal best in the 80m and Long Jump and came close to his 600m best. Ben Seymour (Under 11 Boys) knocked 0.5 secs of his 80m personal best set last year. Freddie Saunders (Under 11 Boys) also set a personal best in the 80m. Alfie Ferguson (Under 11 Boys) set a big personal best in the 150m. Elliot Reed had a busy day setting personal best in the Long Jump and then came very close to his best in the 600m. Zak Ferguson (Under 13 Boys) set a personal best in the 800m where he won by over 100m. George Bellamy (Under 15 Boys) also won by a good distance and set a personal best by 3 seconds in the 800m. Leya Sheibani (Under 11 Girls) set two personal best in the 80m and Long Jump. Rebecca Evans (Under 13 Girls) ran well in the 800m to be rewarded with a personal best and squeeze in to the Top 10 all time rankings. Polly Platts (Under 15 Girls) set a 2 second personal best in the 800m. Daisy Kriel Parr (Under 15 Girls) set personal best in the Long Jump and Shot. Harry Atkinson (Under 15 Boys) set a personal best in the Long Jump and = his best in the High Jump.

A big well done to Isabelle Reed, Scarlett Reed, Olivia Russell and George Wallace who were all competing for the first time. George ran really well in the Under 13 Boys 100m to come away with the bronze medal.

Well done also Josh Kynoch, Adam Hirst, James Wainwright, Teoni Ojibah, Lily Calvert and Victoria West who all came close to setting personal best and I am sure without the strong headwind all would have come away with personal best.

A great day out well done everyone ……
