Annie Naylor running for Hallamshire Harriers Under 13 girls team ran a great first leg and brought the team home in 12th place out of the 53 teams taking part. Her time wasn’t far of making the top 10 fastest times of the day either.Β
Cyane Robinson was running for Rotherham Harriers Under 17 Ladies team. Running the 2nd leg and taking over in first place – Cyane ran sensibly and held the lead to hand over to her team mate still in the lead for the team to eventually just miss out on a medal and finish in 4th place overall. Cyane’s time was 10th fastest of the day out of the 70 runners taking place with more in the tank I feel as she was running by herself the whole way round.
Performance of the day goes to our 3 Under 13 Boys competing for City of Sheffield. Adam Hirst got the boys of to a great start even after falling twice at the start he brought the team home in 6th place. His time was the 10th fastest of the day and I reckon without the falls he would have been 6/7th fastest. Passing on to Jamie Rhodes who ran really strong to get the boys in to 2nd place only 6 seconds behind the leaders. Joseph Close took over and ran sensibly to work his way back to the leader and over take and bring the boys home in Gold Medal position. This is a major achievement for the boys and Team Russell as we have never achieved this before where 3 of our runners are part of the same team and bring home the gold.
A great day everyone the hard work is starting to pay of. Bring on the rest of the winter season now.
