A small turn out here with just three of our athletes competing due to the majority of our younger athletes concentrating on a Cross Country Season.

Molly Gray first year Under 13 went in the 60 metres. This was a big step up in competition for Molly as previously had only done local events such as the Run Jump Throw Series. Molly held her own with the North of England best sprinters and in doing so set a big personal best and go number 2 on the Team Russell rankings. Well done Molly keep working hard we will be back next year with the target of making the Final.

George Wallace had a very busy weekend with the South Yorkshire Schools Cross Country Championships on Saturday and then competing here in the 200 metres and 800 metres. First up was the 800 metres where George went with the early pace set and gave himself a chance of setting a big personal best . George hung on well after going through 400 metres much faster than previously and was rewarded with a 4 second personal best and 4th place finish overall. Shortly after the 800 metres George ran the heats of the 200 metres and made it through to the semi final where he finished a very creditable 6th place. Well done George a great weekend.

Ella Kynoch went in the Under 15 Girls Shot Put. Going in to the Championships Ella was ranked 4th so had an outside chance of coming away with a medal. We have been working hard on the glide over the last month and decided to give it a go here after training had gone well the last few sessions. This was a bit of a gamble but glad we gave it ago as the first round throw Ella set a personal best and gave herself a chance of getting amongst the medals. Another two solid throws saw Ella make it through to the final for a further three throws. In the last round Ella went for it and threw a big personal best to equal the same distance as the winner but unfortunately Ella lost out on count back. This was the first time Ella had gone further than the English Schools qualifying distance. Well done Ella the hard work is starting to pay of.
