A great turn out here for Team Russell and a nice day for competing … Plenty of personal best, medals brought home and to top it of a few records also.

Records :

Will Platts was on top form with two excellent performances and two records. First was the 800m where he recorded a super fast time which will rank him amongst the best runners in the North of England come the end of the season. Next up was the 200m where he was just as impressive with a convincing victory and again a very quick time.

James Wainwright was back competing again after a injury to his wrist. Setting a new Under 15 Boys Long Jump record and then went on to run a solid 100m not far of his personal best.

Thomas Hennessey had a great Javelin competition setting a new record. This was a great distance to say Thomas has never trained for Javelin. Also setting a new personal best in the 200m topped of a great day.

Matthew Rhodes set a new Under 15 Boys High Jump record. Well deserved Matthew after working really hard. The new run up only used for the first time here so will see much bigger heights when we get used to the longer run ups.

Personal Best :

Fletch Wild had a very busy day competing in 3 events and setting 3 new personal best. The High Jump was an equal Team Russell record and then went on to set best times/distances over 800m and the Javelin. Elliot English had a great day setting 2 personal best over 200m and 800m. Alfie Ferguson had a great day setting personal best over 100m and 200m. Elliot Reed set a best in the Long Jump but slightly injured himself so was unable to compete in his favoured event the 800m. Adam Hirst set a best in the 1500m but was probably tired from our warm weather training trip to Spain so expect much quicker times from young man in the next few races. Daisy Kriel Parr had a great run in the 400m to set a new personal best. This girl is one of the most talented I have ever seen. We just need to convince her to concentrate on athletics rather than swimming. Well done to John Hennessey who came close to his personal best over 400m.

Well done everyone bring on the rest of the season.
