South Yorkshire Indoor Series – Fixture 3

A relatively small turn out for Team Russell at this fixture with most of our athletes deciding to concentrate on the Cross Country fixtures coming up ….. This didn’t stop some great performances and a few Team Russell Records.

Team Russell Records : A big well done to first year Under 11 Jorja Turner who had a busy day setting records in the 150 metres and standing High Jump. Jorja was 5th out of the 22 athletes in the 150 metres and 4th out of the 14 athletes in the standing High Jump. Very impressive for someone who still has next year in the same age group. Jorja also took part in the Shot Put for the first time and with a little bit of practice I am sure will challenge that Team Russell record. Ella Kynoch who has been working hard the last few months as the English Schools Championships outdoor this summer is a big target of ours. Going in the Under 15 Shot here Ella set a new personal best and beat her own Team Russell record. Slowly getting towards the distances we know Ella is capable of and now only 30 cm shy of the English Schools qualifying standard. Well done girls keep working hard.

George Connelly first year Under 13 had a busy day getting close to his personal best in the 60 metres and Long Jump. George was 7th out of the 29 in the 60 metres and 3rd out of the 26 athletes in the Long Jump. Watch out for George over the next few years a serious talent as long as we can persuade him to concentrate on athletics rather than football. George Wallace also had a busy day competing in the 60 metres, Long Jump and 1200 metres. A personal best in the 1200 metres was good enough for 4th place overall out of the 10 athletes and put’s him 2nd on the Under 13 Boy’s Team Russell rankings. Well done to Under 11 Boy Lucas Ward who had a bust day competing in the 150 metres, 600 metres and Standing High Jump.

Well done every one …….
