Sorry its taken a while to get last weekends results out but I have been waiting for confirmation of final results from a few meetings. It was a busy three days with the bank holiday with lots of personal best and a few new records.

A few performances that stood out were Emily Simpsons park run at Rother Valley where she finished in 17.35 mins. This was the 4th fastest time recorded at Rother Valley. Molly Gray set a personal best over 200 metres at the South Yorkshire Track and Field League (29.74 seconds) which is pretty impressive for a first year Under 13 and ranks Molly 4th in Yorkshire for her age. Rebecca Evans set a big personal best over 800 metres at the South Yorkshire Track and Field League (2.20.47) again very impressive for a first year Under 15. The time is within 1% of the English Schools qualifying time so has given herself a great chance of making the team. Ella Kynoch who had taken a week of due to a slight niggle comfortably went over the English Schools standard again in the Under 15 Girls Discus at the South Yorkshire Track and Field League going over 30 metres again.

Personal Best :

Jorja Turner set two personal best over 80 metres and Long Jump. First year Under 11 Jorja is one to watch out for over the next few years as I am sure she will be breaking lots of Team Russell records along the way. Under 11 Ben Seymour set personal best in the 80 metres and Javelin. Pretty impressive after a long lay of with a serious injury. Tyler Wingfield and George Connelly both set best times in the 100 metres at the South Yorkshire Track and Field League. George Wallace had a busy weekend setting a big personal best over 200 metres and went over 4 metres for the first time in the Long Jump. Ben Morton also had a busy couple of days. Ben equalled the Team Russell record in the Long Jump and set personal best over 100, 200 and 300 metres. George Bellamy set a best over 800 metres and with the way training is going will go under 2 minutes 10 in the next few races. Annie Naylor went over 800 metres using it as some speed work and preparation for the English Schools 1500 metres. Annie went 3 seconds quicker than last year. Harry Atkinson set a new Team Russell record in the Under 15 Boys Hammer at the South Yorkshire Track and Field League. This was Harry’s first attempt at the Hammer and hadn’t even had a practice session. Rachel Nimoh set a best in the Under 17 Ladies Long Jump. Issy Waugh set a personal best over 150 metres and the Trafford A.C Open meeting. Nicole Mafirakureva set a new personal best and Team Russell record in the Under 17 Ladies Long Jump at the Youth Development League beating the previous best by 1cm.

Well done to Bobbie Waugh, Lilly Hughes, George Seymour and Holly Brewster who all came pretty close to their personal best at various meetings. A great weekend everyone well done.
