A great weekend of athletics at a very blustery Cudworth which made it difficult especially for the sprinters but a great effort by everyone .
John Hennessey had a great weekend making the final of the Under 13 Boys 100m and finishing in 5th place …. He then went on to jump a big personal best in the Long Jump.
Ana Garcia ran very well in tough conditions to record a personal best in the 300m hurdles …. Teoni Ojibaj and Lily Calvert both ran very well mixing it up with the counties best athletes. Teoni missed out on one place to make the 200m final and wasn’t too far of her personal best …. Lahana Vardy had a quiet weekend for a change but set a new personal best in the Long Jump and had a few huge jumps but were marginally no jumps …. Savana ran very well in her first big championships and equalled her personal best over 100m so with some decent weather much more to come. Emily Simpson finished in 6th place in both the 400m and 800m and Alfie Manthorpe won a silver medal in the 2000m steeple chase but had to pull out of Sundays 3000m with a slight niggle to his foot. George Bellamy set a huge personal best in the Under 15 Boys 800m.
The Under 13 Girls 800m runners had a great weekend … Polly Platts set a big personal best whilst Rim Kanar and Annie Naylor both made the final with Rim finishing in 6th place. Annie wasn’t able to make the final the following day .
The stars of the weekend were the Under 13 Boys 800m runners with all 3 of them making the final and setting personal best’s …… Adam Hirst came out on top this time and was just pipped on the line for the Bronze medal ….. Joseph Close went Under 2.30 for the first time finishing in 5th place and Jamie Rhodes close behind in 7th place. Looking good for the relays next year boys ….. Keep up the great work and well done everyone
