Northern Cross Country Championships (Leeds)

The biggest event of the cross country season so far and saw two great performances from two of our athletes.

After her great run in the Yorkshires Cyane Robinson went here in great shape but knew it would be much tougher opposition than at the Yorkshires with some of the countries best runners taking part. Again Cyane today proved where hard work gets you. After last years disappointment with the stress fracture and missing all the season, we are making up for it this year with an excellent 6th place. An excellent result for someone that will be concentrating on 800m this summer season. But we discussed it would be good to have a cross country season to get Cyane much stronger for hopefully some super fast times.

Zak Ferguson who is also working really hard in training and putting in the runs at home is having a great season. Again after a superb run at the Yorkshires Zak went here hoping of a top 15 position. Going of hard and been in top 8 at the half way stage – Zak faded slightly towards the end but finished in 15th place and reached the target we was going for. Zak still has next year in this age group and has he get’s stronger all bodes well for a superb next few years ahead of him. Training partner and team mate Adam Hirst finished in 51st place overall. This doesn’t reflect the shape he is in. Maybe playing a football match straight before it didn’t help is preparations. Well done Adam bring on this weekends South Yorkshire Schools Championships.
