Sheffield Junior Schools Cross Country Finals

Year 4 Girls – Some great running from both of our younger athletes. Both girls still only been in Year 3 showed the Year 4’s how to run. The first time I saw Gabs at the track I said this girl has some real talent. Today was the first time she has had chance to prove that to me and she didn’t disappoint by finishing in 4th place. Gabs training partner Alice also ran an amazing race to come home in 11th place … bring on next year girls well done.
Year 4 Boys – Will Platts was first home for Team Russell running a sensible race to work his way through the field. Will came home in an excellent 4th place ….. Elliot Cutts also ran well after struggling to stay on his feet in the very very muddy conditions finishing in 19th place. Alfie Fergurson was well up with the top 20 runners until he lost one of his spikes …. Alfie finished the race with one spike on and finished in 101st – we know Alf is much better than this.
Year 5/6 Girls – Isabelle Chapman saved her best race until the championships and what will be her last race in Junior School by finishing in 11th place overall. Dana Bean also had a great race and one of her best of the season to finish in 35th place. Dana still has next year in this age group …….
Year 5/6 Boys – Zak Fergurson ran brilliantly to come home in 2nd place – Running sensibly going with the leaders all the way only to lose a slight lead going up a tough hill – Zak finished very strongly and almost caught the leader …. A great cross country season in your last year at Junior School. Tyler Wingfield and Connall Flannery ran well in the very tough conditions to finish in 53rd and 60th place and both these boys have next year in the same age group.
Well done everyone a great day – You did Coach Garcia and myself proud …. Bring on the track season.
