The third Fixture of the Junior Schools Cross Country races held at the very Challenging Norfolk Park. The wind made it even more difficult but didn’t stop some great results from our athletes in some very strong fields.
Year 3/4 Girls – Jorja Turner who is getting stronger each week had a fantastic run to finish in 3rd place overall and was very close to 2nd place. This was a big improvement on the first two meetings. Well done Jorja keep working hard.
Year 5/6 Girls – Heather Berry set of much harder than usual and half way up the steep hill towards the finish was in 5th place but faded slightly and finished a very creditable 10th place. Well done Heather
Year 5/6 Boys – Will Platts looked really strong today and pushed on at the half way point and opened up a good lead and got stronger as the race went on and ran hard up the long steep hill towards the finish to come home a convincing winner. Elliot Reed also ran really well and probably had the race of his life to finish in 3rd place very close behind 2nd place. Elliot English finished really strongly to come home a very impressive 5th place only 1 second behind 4th. The three boys will compete together next weekend at the Northern Cross Country relays where they have a great chance of becoming champions. A big well done also to Callum Quinn (35th), Ben Heaton (51st), Alfie Ferguson (52nd) and Lucas Ward (139th). Great running Boys keep up the great work ……..
