South Yorkshire Cross Country League – Fixture 2 (Winterhill)

On a tough and challenging course where the grass had considerably grew a lot since we were there last year we had some great performances.

Our top performer was Issy Waugh in the Under 11 girls race. After a win in the first fixture Issy again ran really well to come home in 2nd place. It was very close and in the end only came down to a couple of seconds separating the first two.

In the Under 13 Girls race Polly Platts was right in the mix for a top 2 finish right up until the final 50m where was she just pipped and ended up in 4th place. All though slightly disappointed afterwards if you would have said to Polly last season you would be finishing this high up against girls that were a long in front of her last year I am sure she would have bit your hand of. Training partner Bobbie Waugh also had a good solid run in the same race to finish in 13th overall.

The Boys also had some good results with Victor Baycroft finishing 3rd in the Under 17 men’s race. Lysander Lawson ran really well in a very impressive field to come home in 8th place in the Under 11 Boys race. Finally George Bellamy had a good solid run. After an accident at jump yesterday and ended up in hospital George was unsure whether to run or not but decided to give it a go. Setting of cautiously George worked through the field to finish in 8th place.

Well done every one ……
