Steel City Cup Challenge (Spinkhill)

A great turn out for Team Russell as we like to make sure we are supporting local events. Unfortunately conditions were far from ideal and made life difficult for people to come away with personal best but none the less there were some great performances and three new Team Russell records by a certain young lady.
Personal best on the day came from Jamie Littlewood in the Under 15 Boys 100m and 200m and still has next year in this age group. So with a hard winter and some good conditions should see Jamie break Team Russell’s records next year fairly easily. Ella Kynoch saved it until the last competition of the year to break her Shot Putt best and extend her lead at the top of the Team Russell rankings. Harry Roffey is going from strength to strength every week and went in the 400m for some speed work and set a big personal best. A tough winter should see Harry set Team Russell records over 400 and 800 metres.
Issy Waugh the newcomer to Team Russell over the last 3 weeks had a very busy day setting 3 new Team Russell Under 11 Girls records. Started of with a great run in the 70m hurdles. Then onto her favoured event the 800m where she smashed her personal best by 15 seconds and run a very impressive time which for me was Team Russell performance of the day. She then went in to the 200m for a bit of speed work and held her own against the sprinters. What is more impressive is Issy still has next year in the age group.
Also a big well done to Bobbie Waugh, George Bellamy, Lahana Vardy, Josh Kynoch, Teoni Ojibah, Savana Ojibah, Izzy Kitson, Joseph Close, Tyler Wingfield, Fletch Wild, Lily Calvert and Annie Naylor who all were pretty close to their personal best times/distances on the day. Well done everyone now bring on the Indoor season and Cross Country season ……..
